Professor Lea Waters, PhD, is a registered psychologist and is the Director of the Centre for Positive Psychology, University of Melbourne. She researchers positive parenting, positive education and positive organizations.
She is the first Australian to be appointed as a Chaired Professor in Positive Psychology and the first Australian to be awarded the status of Fellow for the International Positive Psychology Association.
Lea holds an Affiliate position with Cambridge University’s Wellbeing Institute (UK) and the Centre for Positive Organizations at the University of Michigan (USA).
She is on the Board of South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.
In 2015, Lea was listed in the Top 100 Women of Influence by the Australian Financial Review.
She’s been listed in the Marques Who’s Who in the World since 2009.
Lea is currently writing her first book ‘The Strong Child: Building Optimism, Resilience and Achievement’ (Penguin Press)
